An attack by Islamic State militants on a police base in Iraq's Anbar province has killed at least 37 troops.
According to Associated Press reports, officials say three suicide bombers drove their Humvees into the base - located in the Tharthar area - causing a large explosion in an ammunition depot.
A number of Shiite militiamen were also present in the station, and over 40 troops were injured in the incident.
Recently Iraqi prime minister Haider al-Abadi revealed 2,300 Humvees were lost to IS forces when Mosul was overrun in June of last year.
Iraqi forces are attempting to regain lost territory in the western province of Anbar, including its capital Ramadi.
