130 new jobs have been announced in Dublin and Cork.

US firm Pivotal has announced a €100 million investment, over the next five years.

The jobs will be officially announced later by the Taoiseach Enda Kenny and Minister for Jobs and Enterprise Richard Bruton.

The announcement will detail a new Pivotal Labs office for Dublin and an expansion of the firm's existing operations in Cork.

As part of that, Pivotal will create a software innovation hub for startups and enterprise customers.

Pivotal will recruit full-time staff for software engineering, technical support, operational and general and administrative roles.

Kevin Flanagan, General Manager for Ireland, Pivotal described Dublin as a "hotbed of talent, innovation and exciting ideas that we are looking forward to playing a central role within."

He told reporters about the breakdown of the jobs:

Richard Bruton, the Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, said he was particularly pleased to see the jobs being spread across two regions.

Silicon Valley-head-quartered Pivotal is partially owned by EMC Corporation and VMware, Inc. with General Electric becoming an investor in May 2013.

Pivotal’s CEO Rob Mee will be presenting a keynote session at the Web Summit, running from November 3rd-5th 2015 in Dublin.
