Far from the world of magic, ‘Enchanted Objects’, named by entrepreneur David Rose, are every day items that connect to the internet, independent of your smartphone or tablet, allowing them to do some very smart things.
They include the umbrella that can receive weather forecasts and flash its handle when it’s going to tain, or the medicine bottle that makes a noise and glows when it’s time to take your tablets. They’re designed to work without any swipes or additional effort from the user - and some are available on the market today, including:
The HAPIfork
This is an electronic fork that helps you monitor and track your eating habits. It also alerts you with the help of indicator lights and gentle vibrations when you are eating too fast. Every time you bring food from your plate to your mouth with your fork, this action is called: a "fork serving".
The HAPIfork also measures:
* How long it took to eat your meal.
* The amount of "fork servings" taken per minute.
* Intervals between "fork servings".
and then is uploaded an online dashboard to help you track your progress, get coaching and advice and so on.
The Mimo Smart Baby Monitor
It's a washable baby onesie with a difference - it has a built-in baby monitor that checks the child’s sleep activity, breathing patterns, body position, skin temperature and so on - for example it will alert you when the baby turns over.
Sensors on the kimono pick up your baby's breathing patterns, and the snap-on Turtle senses movement, body position, and skin temperature.
The Turtle then sends all of that information via Bluetooth Low Energy to a “Lilypad”, which then relays that data and live audio through your home internet to your iPhone, iPad, or Android. Which means you get to check in on your baby from anywhere in the world, at any time.
