A Spanish theatre group is getting around the government tax hike by selling porn magazines and then giving away tickets to their shows with every issue.
The group called Primas de Riesgo (Risk Premium) registered as a distributor of pornography and are selling 300 back issues of a discontinued erotic magazine.
They are selling the magazines for £12.50 with each one including a free ticket to their production of The Prodigious Magician, by Pedro Calderon de la Barca, in Madrid, reports The Local newspaper.
While the Spanish government raised the tax on tickets to movies, plays and concerts from 8% to 21%, the tax on magazines remains at a relatively low 4% and the theatre group used this loophole to avoid charging theatre goers the higher tax rate.
The initiative has been well received, with 180 porn magazines sold with their free entries to the opening night performance.
