Beaumont des Crayeres Grande Réserve NV Champagne €36.99
(on offer until 31.12.2015 at €29.99) Stockists: O’Briens Wines Beers Spirits
Champagne is a small region just north-east of Paris situated around the towns of Rheims and Epernay in the valley of the Marne. It has a continental climate with warm summers and cold winters. In some years the grapes struggle to ripen. The climate and soil contribute to the production of the high acidity in the grapes.
This Champagne is made from is made 60% Meunier, 25% Chardonnay and 15% Pinot Noir sourced from premium vineyards close to Epernay. Because it is a Grande Reserve it has some additional ageing. This means that the brioche character so beloved by fans of Champagne really stands out. Black grapes dominate the cepage, 75% of this wine is made from a blend of Meunier and Pinot Noir. This tends to give you Champagne with a crisp bite and a much drier style.
Beauont des Crayeres is a co-operative made up of 250 growers based around the village of Mardeuil near Epernay. Meunier grown here tends to be extremely good. This is an award winning Champagne and at this price offers the best value around for anyone who enjoys a glass of good quality Champagne. Get yourself off to O’Briens this afternoon and stock up while their offer is still running. An ideal Champagne to serve at midnight tonight!
