Gigstarter, an Irish start-up, lets Musicians and their management go direct to their fans and ask them where they should play. Fans pledge to buy tickets, with this info they plan and fund the tour, so more money from the ticket goes to the Artist.

Gigstarter takes the traditional crowd sourcing and funding of gigs to a new level. Mainly for musicians, but also for conferences and masterclasses, Gigstarter enables ticket sales first and only confirm an event when costs are covered.

They’ve already used gigstarter to sell almost $1m of event tickets and the platform has been used for events attended by thousands right down to tiny events with 60 people.

Is the next animal star staring up at you listening to the radio right now?

Some of what we liked were the difference between:

Socialism and Communism

Violin and Fiddle

Ghetto and Slum

Breast cancer and lymphoma

Bemused and amused

Methodist and Presbyterian
