The price of Stevie Nicks tickets means fans are being ‘exploited’, one upset Lunchtime Live listener has claimed.

The Fleetwood Mac megastar will arrive in Ireland in July and perform in Dublin’s 3Arena.

One fan who would love to see her, Kate, hoped to buy tickets but was “disappointed” when she saw how expensive they were.

“I love Fleetwood Mac, I love Stevie - she’s a great musician and I completely respect the fact that she’s a global icon,” she said.

“She is absolutely huge, she makes fantastic music; Fleetwood Mac are one of the most influential bands in music and I’m a huge music fan too.

“The price of gigs these days, it’s just absolutely insane - it’s out of touch with the current times we live in.

“€400 for two Stevie Nicks tickets standing for the 3Arena [or] even worse €160 to stand at the back of the 3Arena is insane.”

'Half of my income for the week'

Kate said that “as much as I love music and I’d love to see her” she simply could not buy tickets when the prices were so high.

“I can’t justify spending pretty much over half of my income for the week on two tickets to see her at the 3Arena,” she said.

“It’s just non-justifiable; I think people should take a step back and we shouldn’t be given into these crazy prices because the more that we give in and buy these tickets, the higher that they’re going to go.

“They’re currently just exploiting their fans - that’s the bottom line and I know they have to make a living off, pay the tour crew, pay the promoters, the venue and all this stuff but they’re still making a huge profit off this at the end of the day.”

Kate said it is not just Stevie Nicks whose prices have shot up in recent years and the trend is industry wide.

“I paid like €80 to see Taylor Swift at the 3Arena in 2015 and now she’s charging €250 for the Aviva stadium?” she said.

“I think gigs these days, especially the bigger artists, they should charge a lot less because it’s just not fair.

“They’re putting a complete division line between the working class people and the rich.”
