Most people know where their parents and grandparents are from but are intrigued about whether there’s something more exotic lurking in the family tree.

“As a joke I bought the ancestry kit - like under the influence of drinking,” Welshwoman Elsie told Futureproof.

“I actually forgot about it and six weeks later arrived back at my house and I had an email saying that, ‘Your ancestry results are in.’ 

“I looked at them and it said I was half Irish!”
