Up to 200 new jobs have been announced for Dublin.

The Taoiseach Enda Kenny and Tanaiste Joan Burton made the announcement of the arrival of the online fashion store, Zalando.

It is establishing a new tech centre and will be hiring in the area of research and development, big data analysis and engineering.

The company plans to create the positions over the next three years.

The investment is supported by the Department of Jobs through IDA Ireland.

Headquartered in Berlin, Zalando was founded in 2008 and has a presence in 15 European countries - selling fashion clothing, sports gear and shoes, to close to 15 million customers.

After just over six years of operation, its business has grown to €2.2bn in revenue last year.

Zalando says it is actively recruiting data scientists and candidates from the science, maths and engineering disciplines - as well as academia - for a variety of R&D-focused data science and engineering roles at its Fashion Insights Centre.
