Apple is currently looking to hire an editorial producer to fill a roll that will see them managing a "sea of freelancers." The job is based in London, and the company is looking for a "seasoned writer with broad pop culture background" and a "specific expertise in music journalism."

The listing also specifies that the position will involve working with contributors writing about music, books and film.

It is likely that there will be a radical overhaul of iTunes and the iTunes Store before the end of the year as the company moves away from downloads, and takes on the streaming market.

We already know that as part of the deal to buy Beats Electronics for $3bn in May of last year the company acquired both the high-end headphone line and its streaming service, Beats Music.

The iTunes store has been left on the back-burner for some time - while people are still buying downloads the market has shrunk significantly in the last two years and iTunes has struggled to stay relevant while subscription streaming-services like Spotify and Deezer have enjoyed massive growth.

This advertising - and the high-profile hiring of BBC Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe suggest that the company could be launching a highly curated streaming service, our it's own digital media platform.

It is still unclear what Zane Lowe's new roll is with Apple. He spoke to The Guardian about the decision to join the company - he says, "It’s about being able to get great music to an audience on a global level. I know that there is an opportunity to come out here and to build something that will reach parts of the world that I’ve never reached before."

The new job advertisement says that it is interested in taking on a journalist that can produce "lively copy with personality and verve that still adheres to the Apple brand."
