Tetrarch Capital, which bought the Mount Juliet hotel and golf complex last year for €15m, has written to home owners on the estate about its plans to invest up to €10m in the facility, rebrand it and increase golf membership fees there.

According to the Irish Times, the letter says the golf course is a significant loss-maker and maintenance costs remain extraordinarily high compared to other leading parkland courses both here and overseas.

A number of senior management appointments have also been made - including the selection of Peter Wilson, formerly of White's Hotel in Wexford, as general manager. Ryder Cup captain Paul McGinley has joined the board.

Tetrarch Capital has also acquired other golf and property assets in recent years, including the Marker Hotel in Dublin, Powerscourt in Wicklow, CityWest and Mount Wolsely in Tullow, Carlow
