The new Dublin headquarters and customer contact centre for Sky have been officially opened by Taoiseach Enda Kenny.

Sky Ireland recently moved to new premises at the Burlington Plaza where its new customer contact centre is being established.

The centre will exclusively serve Irish customers from one dedicated site for the first time.

The UK-based broadcaster and digital TV provider has created 800 new jobs in order to meet increased service demands from Irish customers.

The company says these positions range from customer service manager and advisor roles to training, coaching and HR positions.

Ireland 'great location' for digital-content providers

Sky Chief Executive is Jeremy Darroch.

"Ireland has been a great market for Sky. We've been here from the very start, growing to become the most popular provider of TV in the country" he said.

"For the first time, we will have a dedicated presence on-the-ground to support this growth" he added.

Taoiseach Enda Kenny commented "The television, information and communication services provided by companies like Sky have transformed how we learn, communicate and share information".

"It is an industry always on the move, working on the next innovation and expanding their reach across the world. That is why Ireland is a great location for digital-content providers and for companies looking to source highly-educated, highly-motivated workers" he added.

Sky will soon introduce broadband and home phone services for Irish customers.

The firm currently reaches over 10.6 million homes across the UK and Ireland with its services and employs over 23,000 people.
