McDonald's is creating 75 new jobs with the opening of a new drive-thru restaurant in Co Cork.

The positions are part of a €3.2m investment on the Old Fort Road in Ballincollig.

The premises restaurant features technology such as self order kiosks and Samsung tablets, as well as an interior play area.

The restaurant can accommodate 170 diners - with a further 40 seats in an outdoor area.

McDonald's owner-operator, John Blake, said: "We are delighted to officially open the new Ballincollig restaurant which has created 75 new jobs and I would like to thank the people of Ballincollig and the locality."

"I think the installation of tablets are a fantastic addition which will entertain and educate our younger customers in particular," he added.

The construction work was carried out by a number of local sub-contractors, supporting 30 additional jobs, and was completed two weeks ahead of schedule.

The new McDonald's in Ballincollig brings the total number of outlets in Ireland to 87, with a workforce of more than 4,500 employees.
