Netflix say that there will soon be a lot more films and TV shows available on its Irish version. The service has some 200,000 users in Ireland. While the provider drip-feeds new content to users, many have been bypassing cyber-barriers to access the US version of the site.

The company's chief product officer, Neil Hunt hopes that as the company becomes bigger these regional discrepancies will become a thing of the past, he says: "We're looking to have a global catalogue that's the same everywhere.

"If people feel they're missing out in one country, hopefully this is a temporary state of affairs," he added.

In the UK & Ireland 2,700 titles are available - while it has over 7,200 films and TV shows in the US.

Netflix explain that the amount of content available in each region is relative to the amount of subscribers that it was in that territory.

Reports circulated recently suggesting that the company is planning a crackdown on users accessing content that has not been licensed in their region. Netflix has said that this is not the case - and that it does not possess the technology needed to block these viewers.

The most common means of doing this is through games consoles and a Google Chrome plugin called Hola.

Mr Hunt also discussed the possibility of a premium offline service - similar to that offered by music streamers Spotify. He says that there is no plan to introduce such a feature, and that the company would be more likely to make agreements to add the service to airplanes, trains, and hotels - adding: "We're in discussions but there's nothing officially on the roadmap."

The company will launch 60 original titles in 2015.
