The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) have released some time-lapse footage of the Northern Lights in 4K filmed from the International Space Station.

Using time-lapses shot from the International Space Station, showing both the Aurora Borealis and Aurora Australis phenomena that occur when electrically charged electrons and protons in the Earth's magnetic field collide with neutral atoms in the upper atmosphere.

These natural phenomena have never been captured quite like this before, and even if your TV / computer screen / phone isn't exactly top-end, the visuals on display here are still something really special.
