The Dublin-based healthcare comparison site WhatClinic.com has announced it has acquired the British dental booking site Toothpick.com.

WhatClinic, which has more than a million monthly users, says the acquisition will help their site’s move towards real-time booking.

WhatClinic founder Caelen King said, “Toothpick has worked incredibly hard to offer a seamless end-to-end booking solution that works effortlessly for dentists. Our acquisition of Toothpick allows us to significantly improve our offering for all patients who are looking for dental treatment.

"We look forward to rolling out real-time booking for all routine dental clinics in markets outside the UK over the coming months,” he added.

WhatClinic was launched in 2007, and is based in Dublin. It offers information and user reviews about private treatment services - such as dental, fertility and plastic surgery treatments - in 130 countries.

Toothpick was launched in 2013, and allows users to make free online bookings with private and NHS dentists. The website is also being rolled out in Holland, Australia, New Zealand and the US.
