He started Handy, a start-up which is based in New York, it provides on-demand cleaning and DIY services, it will use the fresh investment to expand the company's global presence - it hopes to soon operate in almost 30 cities.

The Dublin-native started the company with Umang Dua, Ignacio Leonhardt and Weina Scott in 2012.

“Our vision has been simple – to connect customers to professionals of virtually every home service with the tap of a button. With well over one million bookings completed through the platform, we have shown the need for a seamless, reliable, and convenient on-demand alternative,” he said.

Commenting on the new deal, he continued, "With this recent funding round, we will continue to increase our presence in each of our cities, offer more home services, and improve the platform to continue to deliver the experience that the hundreds of thousands of people using the platform have come to expect of us."

More than 100,000 bookings are currently made on the app every month.

He will appear at the Web Summit's panel on the "on demand" economy at 10:50am on the Centre Stage tomorrow (November 4th), and again later at 2:55pm on the University Stage, where he will discuss the challenges of expanding your customer base geographically.
