Irish couples spend on average almost €24,000 on their wedding and honeymoon, according to a new survey published today.
Over 2,400 brides and grooms took part in the mrs2be survey, which found that the average wedding day costs €19,635, while the honeymoon sets couples back over €4,000.
The biggest average expense on the day is unsurprisingly the venue and band, followed by the wedding dress which comes in third most expensive. Spend on photographer, videographer, DJ, hair and make-up has also increased.
The most preferred number of bridesmaids is three with the typical number of guests for a wedding meal from 101 to 150.
Almost one in four couples do not get married in a church and speeches after the meal have become more and more unpopular.
Biggest regrets?
- Having wedding speeches
- Not getting down on the dancefloor
- Bad choice of wedding dress
- Not being more chilled out and letting the stress get on top of me
- Why didn't I elope?
