Google Ireland has announced that the head of its Irish operations, John Herlihy will leave the company on April 30th. He will be succeeded by Ronan Harris.
Mr Herlihy is also Google's vice president of sales operations in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).
He joined the company in 2005 and led the development of Google’s EMEA sales operations, growing the site from 50 people to more than 2,500 direct employees.
Under his leadership Google also acquired its EMEA campus on Barrow Street in Dublin’s docklands, located a new data centre in Ireland, and established The Foundry - Google’s first centre for digital excellence in Europe.
John Herlihy said: "I’m very proud of what the management team at Google has achieved over the past 10 years. We have built a vibrant organisation which has become the heartbeat of EMEA. The energy that runs through this campus powers a burgeoning digital industry in over 100 countries and is helping to revitalise economies, Ireland’s included."
Ronan Harris, who is a member of the board of Communicorp, and operating as Google's vice president of large customer sales in EMEA will takeover from Mr Herlihy.
He said: "I am delighted to be appointed head of Google in Ireland and I look forward to leading the Ireland management team as we position our EMEA Headquarters for continued growth."
