Mobile World Congress officially gets underway today, with thousands of attendees descending upon the Fira Barcelona. Sony has unveiled an impressive line up of new phones, some of which will be arriving to Ireland in the coming weeks.

The four new devices are the Xperia XZ Premium, Xperia XZs, Xperia XA1 and XA1 Ultra. The Xperia XZ and XA1 will be available to Irish customers this Spring. The other two models are only available in other markets.

As you may gather from the name, the XZ Premium is the flagship device in the range.

The XZ Premium has a 5.5-inch, 4K HDR display and comes loaded with Sony's new Motion Eye camera system. This allows for 960fps slow-mo video capture and playback. For those wondering, that's four times slower than any other smartphone.

The design of the phone is slightly curved in comparison to previous Sony models. The XZ Premium will be available in Luminous Chrome and Deepsea Black.

For those looking for a Sony quality camera, without a high price tag, there's the Xperia XA1.

This follows on from the launch Xperia XA last year. The XA one (pictured above) comes with a 23MP rear camera with stunning low-light capabilities. There's also dual speakers either side of the screen, for those watching Netflix on the go.
