Facebook is set to discontinue support for BlackBerry's mobile operating systems by the end of the year. This means that users of BlackBerry devices will have to access the social network via the mobile version of the website. WhatsApp made a similar announcement earlier this year.
Lou Gazzola, senior marketing manager for developer relations at BlackBerry has expressed his disappointment at the decision:
"We are extremely disappointed in their decision, as we know so many users love these apps. We fought back to work with WhatsApp and Facebook to change their minds, but at this time, their decision stands," wrote Gazzola. "Despite this, we have worked hard to ensure that our end-users have the best experience in light of this decision, and we are continuing to search for alternate solutions."
Mr Gazzola urged supporters to take to social media using the hashtag #ILoveBB10Apps.
