Aer Lingus is set to announce further transatlantic expansion today, Newstalk.com understands.
The airline has called a news conference this afternoon to offer an update on its progress one year after its acquisition by IAG and to unveil what it is teasing as “exciting new plans”.
Word on the grapevine from Dublin Airport is that Aer Lingus will commence a new three-times weekly service to Miami in Florida from next September.
Aer Lingus is scheduled to take possession of a new long-haul A330-300 aircraft next year and this will be used to increase current schedules to the three existing destinations of Los Angeles, Chicago and Orlando during the summer. It will then service the new Miami destination from autumn.
Reports suggest that IAG boss Willie Walsh also favours an additional new route to San Diego in California, but this is not being announced today.
