Eir, the newly-rebranded telecommunications company, has announced its second successive quarter of revenue growth for the three months to the end of September – it rose by 4% compared to the same period last year to €325m.
EBITDA or operating profits increased by 6% during the period to €120m.
Eir makes no reference to a recent report that the company is in advanced discussions to buy Setanta TV, but says its broadband customer base rose by close to 70,000 over the past year to just under 800,000 customers.
All growth was in the wholesale market however, with retail or household customer numbers remaining flat.
The Group has close to 1.1m mobile phone customers – up by 25,000 over the past year, and operating profit from this division almost doubled to €15m on a healthy margin of 17%.
The company's chief executive Richard Moat commented on the results, "This solid financial performance, together with our recent brand launch, provides real momentum as we continue our transformation in an increasingly competitive market.
“We have recorded a strong first quarter built upon the progress of our recent results, delivering a second consecutive quarter of revenue growth coupled with our third consecutive quarter of EBITDA growth," he continued.
