An attempt to seem "down with the kids" has backfired spectacularly for Microsoft, as an email sent out to potential interns and utilising supposedly hip lingo has leaked online.
The invitation to an "Internapalooza" event at its San Francisco office on July 11th opens with "Hey Bae intern! <3" (with bae meaning "before anyone else" and generally being reserved for your romantic partner) and doesn't get much better from there.
The note from one of the tech giants's university recruiter promises "hella noms", lots of dranks" and "the best beats" at the afterparty, closing with the message "Hell yes to getting lit on a Monday night."
Twitter user Patrick Burtchaell was forwarded the mail by his roommate and promptly decided to share it with the world.
Take a gander...
A Microsoft spokesperson has since made an attempt at damage limitation, with the official company line distancing itself from the note.
"The email was poorly worded and not in keeping with our values as a company. We are looking into how this occurred and will take appropriate steps to address it."
