A cyber protection firm is warning consumers over a fraudulent email which asks people for their bank details.

ESET Ireland says Irish computers are being targeted by the scam involving the name of the Bank of Ireland, which then redirects to a fake Polish address.

ESET says it has seen an increased frequency of these in the past few days.

They say the email contains the following message:

But it says the link which appears to be a Bank of Ireland one, actually redirects to wzgorzetoskanii.pl - which is a Polish web address.

It brings users from there to another with an Australian domain name, which displays a forged Bank of Ireland website that requests the user to sign in with their actual online banking details.

ESET says if users enter details here, they are handing them over to the cybercriminals for further abuse.

It is asking users to ignore any such email and to ring their bank if they are unsure about any such emails or text messages they receive.
