Last year saw a 42% drop in the number of complaints to the Financial Services Ombudsman, with 4,477 in total.
However there was a slight jump of 2.4% in the amount of compensation paid out. The total reached nearly €955,000, according to the office of the Ombudsman's latest report.
2014 was the first full year in which the Ombudsman had the power to publicise the outcome of cases they have dealt with.
There were 24 cases substantiated against Danske Bank, with four partly substantiated. Ulster Bank had 12 cases substantiated (22 partly), Permanent TSB had seven (23 partly), and four each for Bank of Ireland and AIB (with 67 and 29 partly substantiated, respectively).
