Your ultimate guide to a Priceless weekend, brought to you by Mastercard

Here’s what’s happening around the country this weekend

When it comes to planning your weekends in Ireland, you really are spoiled for choice. That’s why we’ve teamed up with Mastercard to bring you the ultimate event guide every weekend for the rest of the year. Your weekend starts here:

Dublin Gallery Weekend

This city-wide event is a collaboration between almost 40 art galleries and museums across the city, who have joined together to present a specially programmed series of free public events such as talks, concerts, tours, workshops and more, alongside their exciting exhibitions and projects by a diverse range of artists

Guiding the public through both big modern art museums and  the smallest, tucked away experimental art spaces, weekend events range from relaxing meditation at the Chester Beatty Library, outdoor painting at the Botanic Gardens, tours of art located around The Coombe, and open access to artist in residence studios at IMMA.

Fermentation Workshop

Running alongside the current IN CASE OF EMERGENCY exhibition at Dublin Science Gallery, this workshop on Saturday will equip you with apocalypse-proof food skills.

Are you prepared for the collapse of society? What knowledge would you need to stay alive? What could you eat, and for how long? Join the Science Gallery for a unique opportunity to learn about some of the ways you can preserve and ferment food to provide for yourself after the end of civilisation.

You’ll have the opportunity to learn some of the most basic steps of the fermentation process and how to save certain foods from ending up in the compost.

Week of the Italian Cuisine in the World

A week long celebration of the Mediterranean Diet, a lifestyle that makes Italy one of the healthiest countries in the world, the Embassy of Italy and Italian Institute of Culture have teamed up for an event programme covering many gastronomic and cultural elements.

A Taste of Little Italy will host an Italian food produce event in their Smithfield store on Saturday where participants will taste some of Italy’s most famous and traditional food and wine products, while Dunne & Crescenzi restaurants pay homage to Middle-Eastern influences in their menu and other restaurants have festival discounts.

A special four-course tasting menu at Enoteca delle Langhe with a renowned cheese producer finishes off the weekend.

Dublin Flea Market

Taking place the last Sunday of every month, the Dublin Flea takes place in the Co-Op on Newmarket Square from 11am-5pm, and has the added bonus of being indoors.

With over 60 stalls each month selling everything from vintage clothes to second hand bikes, retro furniture and random odds and ends, it’s just made for strolling around on a rainy afternoon. There’s also a lively mix of DJs and bands providing entertainment, as well as barista coffee and a healthy cafe selling homemade falafel, cakes, pizza, and authentic Greek dishes.

All the fruit and vegetables for sale at the market are organic and Fairtrade, and haggling is seen as a bit of fun.
