Marriott International has confirmed that it will soon be bringing boutique hotel brand Starwood Aloft to Irish shores.

Aloft Dublin City is scheduled to open in Spring 2018 in the Liberties area of Ireland's capital, through a franchise agreement with Blackpitts Hospitality.

The eight-storey building will have 202 loft-like bedrooms, which will include platform beds and large walk-in showers. Guests can also expect the brand's signature WXYZ bar, 'a buzzy public space', as well as a Re:mix lounge, which is Aloft's twist on the traditional lobby experience. Marriott said the WXYZ bar and Re:mix lounge will be situated on the top floor of the hotel, making the most of the panoramic city views.

Pushing Aloft's "tech-forward" appeal, it will offer SPG Keyless, which allows guests to use their smartphone or Apple Watch as a room key, fast and free WiFi and more. There will also be a fitness centre and 24-hour deli option, as well as two meeting spaces supported b an 'In-Touch' business area.

Two retail spaces will be located at ground level and on-site parking facilities will be provided.

Aloft Dublin City will be operated by the Dublin-based Pembroke Hospitality.

Pembroke founder Niall Geoghegan said:

"We see strong demand for affordable yet stylish accommodation in central Dublin. With its mid-market price point, great design and accessible technology, the Aloft Hotels brand is the perfect choice for this prime development."

In 2015, the Sunday Times reported that Communicorp owner Denis O’Brien had committed “several million” to the €40 million project, having previously worked with Marriott to build a hotel in Haiti.
