Pitney Bowes has announced that it will create 100 jobs in Dublin.

The New York-listed tech firm, one of the world’s biggest providers of integrated mail and document management systems, is set to open a new operations centre in the city.

It will be home to a three-year, multi-million euro research and development project to build a next generation ecommerce and payments platform.

Pitney Bowes already has a centre in Dublin, offering cross-border retail support to its clients.

The expansion will require the creation of research and design roles. The office will also offer client support, with further new roles in areas such as tech support and customer service. 

The firm praised Dublin for its mix of talent and language skills, as well as the support offered by the IDA.

Audrey Lynch, director of client operations for Europe, said:

"Dublin’s rich mix of client services talent and language skills, combined with the excellent support that we’ve received from IDA Ireland make it a great place for us to locate our client support operation as well as our innovation team."

In other Irish jobs news, tech specialist OpenJaw Technologies is creating at least 50 jobs in the country as it plans to double its global workforce over the next three years.

The Dublin-headquartered firm, which provides online retail solutions to leading travel brands and processes $2 billion in business transactions annually, has regional offices in Galway, Hong Kong, Krakow and Madrid. 

The new Irish positions will be spread between Dublin and Galway.

It was acquired by Travel Sky last year, giving it proprietary access to the Chinese market.

OpenJaw's chief executive Kieron Branagan said:

“Our intention to expand our workforce globally is directly linked to the tremendous growth we are experiencing in Asia, especially in the domestic Chinese market."
