Gardaí in Limerick are appealing for witnesses following a fatal crash this evening.

The collision happened at around 7.30pm on the Hyde Road, and involved a car and van.

The two occupants of the car - both men aged in their 20s - were taken to University Hospital Limerick. One of the men was later pronounced dead.

The driver of the van - a man in his 40s - and a five-year-old girl who was a passenger both suffered minor injuries.

Hyde Road is currently closed to traffic between Lower Carey’s Road and Lenihan Avenue to allow for a forensic examination. Diversions are in place.
