Gardaí in Tallaght are investigating a single vehicle fatal road traffic crash in which a motorcyclist died.

It happened on the N81 heading towards the M50 at approximately 2.15am Sunday morning.

A man aged in his mid-20s was pronounced dead at the scene when his motorcycle collided with a roundabout.

The scene was preserved and Garda Forensic Collision Investigators have conducted their investigations.

The road has since re-opened.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information, particularly those who were travelling on the N81 this morning are asked to contact Tallaght garda station on 01-666-6000, the Garda Confidential Line at 1800-666-111 or any garda station.
