A respected and successful Italian restaurateur, Stefano Crescenzi, will be hosting a number of a events in conjunction with the Italian embassy, with the proceeds going to support victims of the recent earthquakes.

Crescenzi was recently named a cavaliere, a title equivalent to a knighthood, for his work in encouraging the growth of Italian culture abroad. He has also employed nearly 1,000 Italian citizens living in Ireland over the course of his many years as a restaurateur.

Among the areas affected by the earthquakes was the Italian town of Amatricia, renowned internationally for being one of the finest producers of pasta in the world, with the Amatriciana pasta recipe originating in the town.

A function to support those affected will be hosted by Stefano and his wife and business partner, Eileen Dunne, with the entire proceeds from the event going to help fund relief efforts in Italy. The function will be held in the evening of the 8th of September in their premises on South Frederick Street.

Crescenzi also stated that a portion of the price of every meal at their restaurants will be going into a fund to provide aid to those affected by the earthquake.

"The town of Amatricia, where one of our most popular dishes comes from, has been completely devastated by Wednesday's earthquake", Crescenzi added, "our thoughts are with all those affected and we want to support the rescue efforts as teams continue to search for survivors amongst the ruins."
