An Irish man has died in The Maldives.
The Department of Foreign Affairs say it is aware of the case and is providing consular assistance.
It is believed the man was on holiday on the South Asian island at the time.
It is understood he got into trouble while swimming.
Ireland does not have a resident embassy in the country.
However, the Department of Foreign Affairs says citizens who need assistance can contact the Irish embassy in New Delhi.
In travel advice published on its website, the department says those travelling to the country should exercise a "high degree of caution".
It also says there is currently an outbreak of Zika virus there.
"Irish citizens travelling within the Maldives are advised to take extra care, follow the advice of local authorities and avoid any large gatherings, protests or rallies", it says.
