A Dublin transplant recipient is encouraging us to discuss organ donation with our families.
Today marks the start of organ donor awareness week and there are currently over 500 people in Ireland in need of a life saving transplant.
29-year-old Aoife Murray from Dublin was diagnosed with Auto Immune Hepatitis when she was just 12 years old. After 17 years she received a new liver last October.
Aoife says she wouldn't be here if someone hadn't filled out an organ donor card: "I feel like I've won the lottery because somebody took the time and filled out the card.
“They told their family what their wishes were and I was so sick and going downhill so fast, at that stage, that I don't know if I would be here at this stage if it wasn't for the fact that somebody else sat down and told their family what their wishes were."
