The Taoiseach has formally called the general election.
Enda Kenny travelled to Áras an Uachtaráin, where President Michael D Higgins dissolved the Dáil.
Polling will take place on Friday the 26th of February. The 32nd Dáil is due to meet on March 10th.

Polling will take place just 23 days from today, meaning this will be one of the shortest campaigns in modern times.
