Donegal gardaí say they are investigating the sudden death a man in Carndonagh.

Gardaí were called to an incident at a house in the area shortly after 8.00pm on Thursday evening.

Emergency services provided treatment to a 37-year-old man at the scene.

However he was pronounced dead a short time later.

The scene has been preserved and his body has been taken to Letterkenny Hospital.

The local coroner has been notified and a post mortem is scheduled to be carried out by the State Pathologist on Saturday morning.

Gardaí say the results of the post mortem will determine the course of the investigation, while enquiries are ongoing.
