This section of the Tribunal is focusing on Garda whistleblower Keith Harrison
A Garda Inspector has told the Disclosures Tribunal she was not ‘out to get’ a Garda whistleblower when she interviewed his partner.
This section of the Tribunal is focusing on Garda whistleblower Keith Harrison and on contacts made between gardaí and Tusla in respect of him.
The Tribunal heard Inspector Goretti Sheridan took a statement from Garda Harrison’s partner in October 2013 at Letterkenny Garda Station, which took eight-and-a-half hours.
The Inspector said the partner - Marissa Simms - highlighted behaviour regarding Garda Harrison which the Inspector believed was controlling.
The Inspector said she was concerned for the partner’s two children.
Inspector Sheridan denied that she and her colleagues were ‘out to get’ Garda Harrison and said she didn’t know him at the time.
She also denied putting words in Marissa Simms' mouth, or that her questions were suggestive or leading.
Ms Simms subsequently withdrew her statement a few months later.
The Tribunal is scheduled to hear evidence from Ms Simms tomorrow.
