Newstalk is teaming up with Children’s Health Foundation to urge people all over Ireland to get involved with the Trick or Treat for sick children campaign this Halloween.

The Trick or Treat campaign, now in its 25th year, is a chance to make a massive difference to the lives of sick children and their families by doing something fun – dressing up and having a spooktacular party.

By hosting your own event at your crèche, school, home or workplace, you’ll be raising vital funds for the children being cared for at the Children’s Health Ireland (CHI) hospitals Temple Street, Crumlin & Tallaght as well as the urgent care centre in Connolly and supporting their families when they need it most.

The funds go towards vital and life-saving equipment, providing essential patient and parental supports, and making ground-breaking paediatric research possible.

The funding also supports play specialists, art teachers and fuel vouchers for parents to travel to and from the hospital - as well as special Santa visits over Christmas.

Wherever you host your party, you can have some frightful fun that will help change the lives of sick children like Adam, who has faced more challenges in his young life than many do in a lifetime.

Born with complex heart defects, Adam has endured multiple heart surgeries, a heart transplant, and cancer.

Today, Adam is cancer-free and is “full of life, smiling, talking non-stop” and enjoying pre-school with other children his age.

Adam’s mother Katarzyna has said Adam’s journey would not have been possible with the “extraordinary care and dedication of the entire hospital team – the doctors, nurses, specialist nurses, cleaners, porters, canteen staff, and chaplains”.

“The support we received from everyone at CHI is something beyond words,” she said.

“They weren’t just staff; they were our lifeline. They are truly angels on Earth, and we will forever be grateful for the love, dignity and hope they gave Adam and our family.”

When you support Children’s Health Foundation, you’re not only funding life-saving treatments but also helping provide comfort, support, and hope to children like Adam and their families throughout their hospital journey.

Sign up today to receive your free Trick or Treat pack filled with spooky supplies to host your own ‘Little Monsters’ party — and make a big difference for children like Adam.
