Two people have died after a crash in County Monaghan.
It happened on the N2 Dublin to Derry road between Carrickmacross and Castleblayney at around 6 O'clock this morning.
Two trucks collided and both drivers lost their lives.
One of the bodies has been removed from the scene - a second man is still trapped and emergency personnel are working to free him from the wreckage.
Part of the road is closed and diversions are in place.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses.
Elsewhere, there were accidents in counties Wicklow, Mayo and Kerry.
Overnight temperatures fell to as low as minus 3 degrees overnight in the midlands.
