Social media giant, Twitter is refusing to rule out banning President-elect Donald Trump from its service following a series of angry tweets from his account.

Mr Trump's recent tweets attacked a factory worker named Chuck Jones, from Indianapolis. Mr Jones received a tirade of abusive calls, according to the Washington Post, following those tweets.

It would seem that this is potentially against Twitter's rules on inciting abuse or harassment, and echoes situations where Twitter has opted to ban people for life.

The company has repeatedly stated that its rules "apply to all accounts", and said that it will not comment on specific users.

Mr Trump's tweet read: "Chuck Jones, who is President of United Steelworkers 1999, has done a terrible job representing workers. No wonder companies flee country!"

Mr Jones subsequently received calls including one, which simply involved a caller saying: "We're coming for you".

This case has some similarities to that of writer Milo Yiannopoulos, who was banned from Twitter earlier this year. Yiannopoulos was permanently banned from having an account on the site as a result of public messages he sent, harassing Ghostbusters actor Leslie Jones. His actions led to many other users attacking Jones too.
