Bus Éireann commuters are facing their 14th day in a row without services as company management and unions return to the talks table this morning.

Negotiations finished up at the Workplace Relations Commission late last night without a solution to the dispute.

The talks focused on work practices and rostering yesterday – however no agreement has yet been reached.

The National Bus and Rail Union said its members on the Bus Éireann picket lines were “resolute” as talks adjourned.

1,900 Bus Éireann staff are involved in the strike action which the company has said is costing it €500,000 per day.

The dispute centres around the company’s proposed survival plan – which involves significant cuts to workers pay and conditions.

Unions are refusing to accept cuts without agreement while management has insisted that the company is on the brink of insolvency - and will not be able to continue unless large-scale savings can be made.

Pickets remain in place at depots around the country with the talks set to resume at 9:30am this morning.
