Gardaí in Tralee are using CCTV to track a suspect after a stabbing in the town on Monday afternoon.
The man is believed to have fled the scene after an attack a man aged in his 60s in Moyderwell outside the library.
He was brought to University Hospital Kerry with injuries that are not thought to be life-threatening.
Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact Tralee gardaí or the Garda Confidential Line at 1800-666-111.
Local Councillor Pat McCarthy says the community is in shock.
"It's not a normal thing in Tralee, and probably most towns in Ireland, that people are stabbed for whatever reason in broad daylight.
"It's so sad, so sad".
