Not content with rebooting the Star Wars franchise, another beloved George Lucas creation may be about to get a Disney makeover, with the Indiana Jones series rumoured to ready for a remake.
Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pine, next seen in Jurassic World, is reportedly the star the House of Mouse wants to sign on to replace Harrison Ford, in a deal that would make Pine arguably the biggest movie star on the planet.
Disney acquired the rights to the archaeological adventure series from Paramount in 2013, and now Deadline reports the studio is hoping to relaunch the series that bowed out in 2008 with the disappointing Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. That film was developed as a vehicle to rebuild the franchise around Shia LeBeouf, who appeared as Dr Jones’ son, Mutt.
While still just a rumour, signing on would top off an already impressive career-building year for Pratt, currently on television screens as Andy Dwyer in Parks & Recreation. The actor was catapulted to leading-man status after a supporting turn in Zero Dark Thirty, and will start filming a remake of The Magnificent Seven in April, co-starring Denzel Washington for MGM and Sony.
