The leader of Fianna Fáil says the introduction of water charges has caused 'huge social upheaval'.

Micheál Martin's claim follows reports today that staff at Irish Water could earn bonuses of up to 19%.

The utility company says it doesn't have a bonus scheme - instead it claims it has a performance related awards scheme for employees.

Staff will be subject to a review in mid-2015. Depending on their performance, they may or may not be entitled to this award.
