Anti-terror police from the PSNI have arrested 14 men during a raid at the funeral of a dissident republican in the North.

Michael Barr was shot dead last month by two gunmen who burst into the Sunset House pub in Dublin and hit him up to three times.

The 35-year-old from Strabane, Co Tyrone, died at the scene.

It is thought the shooting was linked to gangland feud between the Kinahan and Hutch families and their associates.

It is not certain if Mr Barr was the intended target - or if a member of the Hutch family was in the pub at the time.

Hundreds of people were at his funeral mass at St Mary's Church in the Melmount area of Strabane on Thursday morning.

It was just coming to an end when the police operation was mounted.

Reporter David Blevins said: "He was known to police because of previous involvement with dissident republicans".

"His funeral had a number of dissident republican trappings".

His coffin was draped in a Tricolour flag, topped with a black beret and gloves and flanked by masked men.

A spokesman for the Police Service of Northern Ireland said the arrests were made under the Terrorism Act.
