If US President-elect Donald Trump's pledge to build a border wall between the United States and Mexico still seems fanciful given the huge costs and criticism associated with such a move – aside from the fact he expects Mexico themselves to pay for it – one company south of the border is very much on board with the plan and offering their services.

According to Reuters, Mexico's Chihuahua Cement Group would happily supply cement and construction services for the project.

CEO Enrique Escalante told the news agency:

"We can't be choosy. We're an important producer in that area and we have to respect our clients on both sides of the border."

Though based in the border state of Chihuahua, the firm does some 70% of its business in the US and operates three factories in the country.

The stance taken by group is totally at odds with the reaction Trump's plan has garnered elsewhere in Mexico.

Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto said of a September meeting with his soon-to-be US counterpart:

"At the start of the conversation with Donald Trump, I made it clear that Mexico will not pay for the wall."

For Trump's part, he recently told CBS News' 60 Minutes that the barrier could include "some fencing".

There was no mention of the border wall when Trump took to YouTube this week to outline his first 100 days plan.
