An attorney involved in the case of Molly Martens-Corbett and her father Thomas Martens says he believes their actions were justified.

The two have been released on bail after appearing in court in North Carolina.

32-year-old Molly and 65-year-old father Thomas have been charged with the murder of Limerick man Jason Corbett.

Ms Martens-Corbett has also been ordered not to contact her step-children as part of her bail conditions.

Mr Corbett's children from his first marriage are now being raised by Mr Corbett's sister in Limerick.

He died at the age of 39, after an alleged dispute at his home in North Carolina last August.

The judge at Davidson County Superior Court granted bail last night - subject to a security of US$200,000 (€186,040) each.

Mike Earnest, Tom Marten's brother-in-law and Molly Marterns uncle, said yesterday he believes their actions were justified.

Attorney for Thomas Martens, Jones Byrd, told Newstalk Lunchtime he agrees with Mr Earnest.
