Instagram has just added more new features to its Stories offering.

Stories were first introduced last year, with many calling the company out for essentially pinching Snapchat's idea. Now, the company has borrowed from Snapchat once more with the introduction of face filters. There are eight filters to choose from. These are a gold crown, koala, nerd glasses, bunny, butterfly crown, ice crown, peacock and make-up.

Once users have updated to the new app, it's possible to tap on the face icon in the bottom right corner. This will bring up all eight filters. The company announced the news in a blog post this afternoon.

"Take a photo or video using the front- or back-facing camera — they even work with Boomerang, so you can easily add an unexpected twist to what you share! When you’re done recording, you can send it to your best friends through Instagram Direct or add it to your story."

Instagram also announced the arrival of a 'rewind' button, a hashtag sticker and an eraser brush.
