Gardaí have renewed their appeal for the mother of a baby girl, whose remains were found in Wicklow yesterday, to come forward.

The baby's body was discovered in the Greenstar Recycling Plant in Fassaroe in Bray yesterday morning.

A post mortem was carried out this evening, the findings of which would suggest that the baby was born some weeks earlier than initially thought. It has also been confirmed that the remains are of a Caucasian female, and there is nothing to suggest deliberate injuries were caused to the baby.

Superintendent Pat Ward reiterated that he is very concerned for the welfare of the mother as she is possibly in a distressed state and in need of medical assistance.

Superintendent Ward issued a further appeal to anyone, particularly family members, who may have any information to get in contact.

An incident room has been established at Bray Garda Station and Gardaí are liaising with the Health Service Executive.

Anyone with information can contact Bray Garda Station on 01-6665300, or the Garda Confidential Telephone Line on 1800 666 111.
