Corey Lewandowski, campaign manager for Donald Trump, has been charged with misdemeanour battery in a case involving a member of the media.
Lewandowski hit the headlines recently after he was accused of roughly grabbing Michelle Fields, then a Breitbart reporter, and shoving her during a Trump rally on March 8th, leaving a bruise on her arm.

A spokesperson for Trump said that Lewandowski was "absolutely innocent" and that "He will enter a plea of not guilty and looks forward to his day in court. He is completely confident that he will be exonerated".

Lewandowski responded on Twitter to the original allegations by Fields to say that she was "totally delusional" and that he had never met her.

Further confrontations with members of the media have also been reported at Trump events, including an altercation between a photographer and secret service staff at a rally in Virginia.
